About: This copper plate engraving of four putti is on laid watermarked paper. Abraham Bloemaert was an influential Dutch painter from Dordrecht, who initially worked in the style of the "Haarlem Mannerists", but by the beginning of the 17th century altered his style in line with the new emerging Baroque style. He mainly painted mythological and religious paintings, portraits and landscapes. Best known for the art historical work The Great Theatre of Dutch Painters (1718–1721).
Frederik Bloemaert was a Dutch printmaker and draftsman. Bloemaert was born and died in Utrecht. He was the youngest son of Abraham Bloemaert and distinguished himself as an engraver. He learned the art from his father and was chiefly occupied in engraving after his designs.
